Peter is Reader in Psychology at City University. His research has been mainly concerned with human judgements under uncertainty. He is interested in the reliability and validity of judgments of subjective probability - including claims of overconfidence - and factors affecting expert and lay risk perceptions.
Recently he has conducted research investigating confidence in the control of dynamic systems and the effects of escalating commitment on decision making.
